"It came from beneath the sea"

Great footage of the machinery of long ago.

It's an enjoyable lark. Something that viewers ought to remember is that the movie is 1955 (which probably means made 1954); the Nautilus was launched 1954. For all one knows about the insides of the boat, that was probably rather hard to come by back then.

I just rewatched Downfall (German movie about Hitler's last days in the bunker in Berlin). I just started jonesin' for it and hadn't seen it in probably 8 years or more. Now I'm on a kick and am going to watch The Lives of Others and that movie about Sophie Scholl tonight!

I just saw Last Black Man in San Francisco. Low-key, a little slow, but ultimately very moving. I thought it was just about gentrification. But that’s like saying Moby Dick is just story about a whale. Last Black Man is about family, art, creativity, loss, self-delusion — all in a rich, fast- changing city. It’s very well acted, written, and directed, with beautiful cinematography of San Francisco. It’s a must see for anybody who loves big cities and whats happening in them now.

Started it on Monday, finished it Tuesday. I had seen it before, long ago on the CBS Late Movie ....... but it is still fun to watch it again.

Rocketman. very pleasing movie although i found it to dwell more on Eltons inner demons than his music.

Rise of the Gargoyles (2009). I watched it last night. It was a pretty good gargoyle horror movie.
