Richard Gere plays a Confederate veteran who unexpectedly wanders home after the War.. Town receives him with open arms, unaware of his recent mysterious circumstances. Gets sappy in the last scenes, but I basically liked it. Good historical recreation, I thought.. & has Silence of the Lambs-era Jodie Foster.. Currently on Netflix.
Yes--Foster proved she could really act because she pulls off loving Gere...
It's nice, family movie. It has a good ending, nice monsters, and shows that if you don't have the family dog, it is wise to have horses and take them wherever you go.
HOWEVER, it is a bit like Sliders in that ......... wherever you go, there you are.
I thought that was actually really good especially for a children's horror film.
First Man (2018), Damien Chazelle
Meh. The visuals and cinematography was the best part of it. The story seemed a bit disjointed and acting wasn't that great for some strange reason.
It's entertaining, especially if you don't expect anything from it and just try to get into that world. Don't see any famous names, don't see the previous versions, just live the movie at that level.
I had bought it because I got into a George C. Scott buying kick and all the movies received were still waiting to go up into the library. Sunday being "Men & Women of Steel", I picked this one out of the waiting stack.
As things go, it put me on the right footing to start the week off calm though it might not have been the flick itself but just the general stacking of the environment.
"The Old Man and the Gun"
Shoot myself...just thought it was bad--a waste of time and talent--
Likely Eastwood's "The Mule" will be the movie this set out to be...
Casey Afleck plays the Dallas cop who sets out to capture Redford's character--
Some of his dialogue is so mumbled there is no way anyone could understand what he said---
I am all for realism but people would be saying "what--what did you say???" If it were really realistic...
Elizabeth Moss creates a persona quickly in small role...
Sissy Spacek was very good in an implausible movie--
why can't someone find her a miniseries to do where we can watch her more often than once every 4 yrs or so...
And give her something where she can be more than a sweet country girl--
She can act for crying out loud...
Rented Uncle Drew at Red Box. I redeemed some of my accrued points so it turned out to be a freebie. Still, the movie was entertaining. I’ll give it a 👍👍, 2 thumbs up.
