Seven Samurai, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and My Neighbor Totoro. Also loved the original French Taxi movie and La Femme Nikita.

Watched Raise the Red Lantern this past weekend. Beautiful film, so poignantly told and filmed. I am often mesmerized by the films of foreign directors -- their work is often so artistic in that one could stop, and still, almost any scene, and have a beautiful painting or photograph. Lovely compositions in this movie.

The story is an incredible one -- revolving around women as the 'property' of wealthier men in China, and wife pitted against wife.
