I was wondering if anyone could provide links to websites which provide updated information on highly-acclaimed released foreign films (primarily those from Europe or East Asia)?
I know that Mark Kermode & Roger Ebert provide information and reviews on foreign films but I'm more interested in websites which provide information simply about released films in Europe or East Asia or information on films released in countries in Europe or East Asia.
If you go to Wikipedia and enter /list of *** films/ (inserting name of country), you will find a fairly comprehensive list of pictures from that country, in chronological order, and most are kept reasonably up to date.
Each country's films are listed in Wiki by a different contributor, so are not always consistent, but most are pretty well annotated.
That's a helpful list, but extremely exasperating to look at. There is no tabular text list of any titles, but only pictures of the display boxes, and in many cases, it is impossible to read the title of the picture, and in every case, your eye has to stop on each film and search the cover of the box for the title in a different stylized font.
I don't understand why the webmasters at what would otherwise be helpful and informative sites, feel such a compelling need to sell out to the God of Glitz. The complete abdication of any effort to make the site visually useful makes one wonder how much thought went in to their title selections. Of if they thought "Lets list this film because it's in a prettier box".
I don't know if you have a Netflix account, but they have a nice selection of Foreign Films with a good description/picture of each.
Even if you don't have an account, you should be able to see them by just perusing their site.
OR take advantage of their 30 day free trial offer (does require credit or debit card on file). I've had an account there forever...and they are really up front before charging your card. I only pay $7 something a month for all the streaming TV and movies I could possibly watch.
I just watched Girl on the Bridge with Vanessa Paradis (French film) which was excellent.
I can't post the link because it keeps bringing up my account, so just google '30 days free membership Netflix' or something to that extent.

Yes I see that now. Wish they'd upgrade to make it more user friendly.
I also came across this: www.filmsite.org/foreign100.html
Do you mean new ones? I've run across a fantastic site - I'm trying unsuccessfully to remember the name - but it seems to be more for classics, like Ozu and Kurosawa.
