I am enjoying reading through this thread! IRL I don't know anyone (well, maybe my mom) who likes foreign films!

There is a Korean movie, I think it is called The Way Home, about a boy from the city going to stay with a mute grandmother he doesn't know in the country. My kids love this one too.

Rabbit Proof Fence from Australia

The Bicycle Thief. Love this movie! The scene where he is sharing a bottle of wine with his 10 year old!

Mr and Mrs Iyer (English film by bengali film director Aparna Sen) - very touchy/emotional on the basis of communal riot.
Pan's labyrinth (Spanish) - very special film, one of the best seen by me
The 9th Company (Russian) - Great war movie!
Black House (Korean) - Nice piece of horror
One missed call (Japanese) guess why hollywood remakes horror movies from Japanese/Korean?
Leben der Anderen, Das (German) very enlightening, periodic movie

Now I have more movies to choose from. Thanks.

Has any one seen Mar Adentro or The Sea Inside (Spain)? Javier Bardem is great in it.

Anything from Yimou Zhang .. though his movies tend to be very sad.. they are absolutely gorgeously made w/interesting plots.

Check out Curse of the Golden Flower.. SAD, SAD, SAD but sooooo amazing.

Jeux des enfants.. This was the first we had ever seen of Marion Cotillard and a couple of years later she won the Oscar for La Vie En Rose.. wow!!

À La Folie... Pas Du Tout (he loves me he loves me not)... Awesome movie w/Audrey Tatou.. Got my folks hooked on it.

La Femme Nikita (the remake POint of no return was HORRIBLE).. Love the scene w/Vic the Cleaner.. Jean REno.. hmmm what a man!!!

Crime Spree (technically I would say it is foreign because set partially in France and characters are all French.. holy crap Jonny HolidaY!!) .. LMFAO.. This movie is outrageously funny!!X

We enjoy most french movies.. my father is french and therefore i was raised in a french household where french movies and music were always around LOL

And my all time favorite??? THE SEVEN SAMURAI!!.. My son watched it w/me for the first time when he was about 10.. He was hooked. He still loves it to this day (he's 17). He kept up w/the subtitles even..

Raise the Red Lantern was beautiful but I just sobbed at the ending. His movies are always so sad!!!

Monsoon Wedding was so sweet.. I love that movie. We have it in our collection
