I knew the comics industry has been gobbled up by the film industry but are you telling me they have been partitioned & carved up like a pizza?
It's not confusing at all. In a nutshell:
In the throes of Marvel's 1990s bankruptcy, a number of IPs were sold off to several major film studios. A fire sale is what that's called.
Sony got Spider-Man and all his connected characters and his villains, and they also got Ghost Rider.
Fox got ALL the mutants, the Fantastic Four and all connected characters and villains, and Blade, etc.
Since, Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher and Ghost Rider have come back to Marvel. Sony is sharing Spider-Man, but will continue to make their own movies, like Deadpool 1/2 and Venom. Marvel's trying to get everything they sold to Fox back.

Wait, The Flash is still happening? Wasn't it supposed to be out now?
I don't understand why they are giving the character no one liked in JUSTICE LEAGUE his own movie.
