Looks like the residential sector is waking up downtown, there's now two 120 metre buildings (the MTL standard) proposed where the Alcan building cluster is. Prevel is lobbying to bring up a dead proposal of a 120 metre building at 2050 Rue Stanley.

even though StatsCan says downtown Montreal has a population of 109,000 as of 2021, this does not include Saint-Marie or Milton Parc, which are both part of downtown Montreal. So the population is most likely 130,000+

And I'm sure that this is also not including Griffintown, which has absolutely exploded recently?
Montreal's "official downtown" limits are far too restricted, as one could easily argue that it extends at least a few miles in all directions except for North into the face of Mount Royal.

StatsCan considers downtown Montreal with Milton Park (correction as I thought it excluded it) and Griffintown, all the way to the St. Lawrence river. It excludes the Village and Saint Marie, which I am sure this will be officially considered downtown once developments are complete.
