The Bay office tower project has been re-submitted to the city and reduced heavily from 25 floors (120 metres) to 20 floors (102 metres). This comes after people kept complaining that the building was "too tall" and "blocked" views of the river (which is hilarious, considering a block south, a 200 metre tower is going up).
Well, Montreal is entering another state of emergency and the province will be enacting even more strict measures to combat with the surge of new covid cases. A lot of the economic progress made so far will be wiped out within a few weeks... here we go again *sigh*

Was just thinking of planning a trip up there to Montreal and the Eastern Townships for a winter getaway on the week off I took in early February. I was ready to go through all the COVID testing and entry requirements. Now I'm re-thinking this if the border is just going to close and activities are limited. I wanted to go skiing up there. Sigh... indeed.
Thanks for keeping these posts going for MTL projects, I often lurk here to see what's new.
With these restrictions announced, not only will our economy suffer, but people's mental health and I fear more violence will happen. I also know of a few major economic projects that are now put on hold and a few wanting to relocate their HQ's in the United States (this being the last nail in the coffin)

Yep. So I've heard. Here we go again with this nonsense.
Well, not only has covid slowed things down economically, but the city of Montreal lost nearly 45,000 between July 2020 to July 2021.. The island should still be above 2,000,000 people, but the regions have gained very well. This is heartbreaking to see, considering we've made so much progress and covid just wiped everything out.
EDIT
The island of Montreal went from 2,072,645 in 2020 to 2,025,928 in 2021. I hate covid....
