I love snowy days like this...Jasper and I are hunkered down for the weekend. Perfectly happy. And the roads are bad out there...saw a guy with chains.

A hot toddy, a long winter's nap is the plan for today...

Gorgeous pics, DLP! And I'm gratified to read that the Cabinets are still growing. I'd hate to have bought property with a shrinking view!

Driveway, hell... I'd settle for someone scraping the ice off the road!

Dream on. You say my location. Spots Wyoming. For the longest time I thought I know where I lived. Then one day I had to head into town and when I got to the pavement it was slick. I wanted to find out how bad the roads were so I called the road report. It said, "Highway 14 is slick in Spots." aha. Now I knew better. I must live in Spots.

Ski resorts needed the snow. I stopped feeding birds for the winter, becuase the deer were raiding the bird feeder. Bird seed for finches, yes, supply birdseed for deer, no.

I swear to God that Helena has no snow plows. They have Zambonis. They are skilled at making all the streets perfect for skating!

We helped a Scout family move from one rental to another. They moved here from Indiana a couple of months ago and the landlord failed to tell them that their rental was in foreclosure. They saw the sign on the door a few weeks ago and had to scramble to find a new place. What a rip- right around the holidays...

So we did this in foot of snow. On an an incline. Going into a downhill facing U-haul with a metal floor with snow on your boots is really interesting! So finished that off and went to work the Christmas tree lot for the scouts until 8p.m.

Good week this week. Might be able to go out and do some bird hunting next weekend. We'll see...

Default The ski hills got some snow.

Finally the resorts are seeing happy skiers. I think Whitefish resort has over 60" at the base last I checked.
We still only have a couple of inches in our valley.
Our county has sand and melting chems so driving should be good today unless one has to cross mountains. That's when the fun begins. ( I like driving on snow-packed roads) When we had an off roading lifted rig with mudders we used to go up to old abandoned lookout towers in December in 8" deep snow on steep narrow roads. Those were the days ! After December the snow up there gets too deep, we don't have sleds and we aren't that adventurous anymore. (have to work on that)
In the sixteen or something years we've been here we really haven't seen anything close to what we consider a real storm. The midwest and out east they really get slammed.
I remember once on a ski trip to the sierra Nevada range (Mammoth) it snowed over six feet over night.

Maybe we'll actually have some breakfast this morning (about 2 in the afternoon !)
I think my wife is on strike and I didn't even know our house was unionized.
