About 4 inches of snow overnight here... so off we go to the mountain to ski.

Speedy recovery, ElkHunter. I admire your spirit thru it all.

Sounds like Montana caught a cold, and ElkHunter needs a tune-up.

Yesterday, the NWS in Billings got ahold of me and told me that this storm caught them by surprise and because it came up so quick, they really were not sure what was going to happen. Even with that, what they put out as an initial report, stayed true throughout the storm, so they did pretty good.

Having said that, the major concern was that the road temp was 46 degrees. That means that as the storm started, the snow was going to melt and the road was going to be wet causing glare ice when the road temp dropped to 32. You can imagine how dangerous that was going to make things. True to form, about 2345 last night, I started getting reports of Black Ice in certain places. Then more places, and yet more. I think when I got up this morning there was a total of 6 reports. Of course, if you added them up, it was black ice for about 60 miles.

I stopped stalling and bladded the main driveway (400 ft, 2 lanes widening to 6 lanes the last 100 ft). Now I'm warming up and in a minute I'll do the other part and it's about 200 ft, by 4 lanes. By then I can cook lunch. hahaha

The Stalling was only temporary, darn thing seemed to run perfect when I made up my mind to actually turn the key and hit the start button.

Odd. Snow all over, Butte, Bozeman, Seely Lake. No snow in Helena. Odd.

Winter storm watch until Saturday evening, we could still get some in Helena.

Wouldn't surprise me as I have some work I need to get done, and working in the snow always makes it more miserable, so I expect at least a foot tonight, then blowing and drifting tomorrow

Oh well, if we get some cold weather, maybe the ice will form so I can do some fishing!!

Thumbs up We're finally getting ours.

Our view is gone, all we see is all these white snowflakes falling straight down. (I still took a picture)
I'm glad we don't have to go anywhere today.
Wish it was cold, I'm wanting to do a bit of ice fishing also.
After the great trout we had the other day, my wife has decided that she likes fish !!! She even promised that the next time we go to Shenanigans in Spokane that she will actually order a seafood dish instead of the Indian Taco !
