I want my octane back up there.
Remember when premium gas could go over 100 octane?
Pay or ping.

Oh, geez, yes... and when low-octane meant 90 or so. Then it went down as low as 85. Pay or ping, indeed.

We use to boost our octane in the race car with moth balls. You, of course, wanted to make sure you had real moth balls and not synthetic.

Since we're talkin' about the "good ole days"..................

In the late forties the Granatelli Bros (Andy Granatelli) had a machine/racing equipment shop on the north side of Chicago. I remember taking the heads off my 1940 Mercury and my buddy drove me the 60 miles into
their shop and have them mill about 40/1000ths off the heads (a good old "flat head V-8")...this raised the compression up to about 10 1/2 to 1. Then to avoid the "ping" we'd get, (even running straight "ethyl"---remember the Red Color), we'd then add about 10 gallons of aviation gas
to a half tank of ethly. Then we'd advance the timing (by trial & error) until it was just "short of "pinging" under full load. I won enough
1/4 mile drag races (on a very rural county highway.....usually about midnight on a Sat night) to pay for "these slight modifications", in about 2 months. As far as anybody knew..............it "was strictly stock!!"

Admittedly, it was kinda hard on the valves............but that old Merc sure raised a few eyebrows.

Especially when the eyebrow is the county mounty, riding the rear bumper and the car is bottoming out on the bumps with the trunk and backseat loaded down with cases of rum at 95 mph with no headlights on a curvy back road that is the long scenic way to the next county with a bunch of thirsty folks waiting on the other side of the line !

You know you have a hot car when you buy your fuel by the drum.

Wink It's a bit lonely on this old porch.

Someone is up to something again. Someone has attempted to hack into my computer it appears. I have my settings set to alert me when that happens and now I have to set new passwords and do a bug check on my computer. It (the hack) came in via De~facebook just like the last time and I think I know who it is, (a relative), FB, Hmmm, the biggest CJ on the planet. What is a CJ ? That's secret code for Sirkelgerck.
We don't keep any sensitive data and our firewall should have kept a bug out but it triggers a process that requires me to reset a few but not all passwords.
What a PITA (That is secret code for "Lecherrif'sMophandle")

Didn't get a wink of sleep so I snapped a bright metal pedant on a textured vinyl sheet and Googeized it all up in Picnik.
I bet I messed up on the translation. ?
We have been watching the national Geographic mini series titled "India" on Netflix and I watched Moulin Rouge while putzing this image up.

Well, that sucks... the good thing about a smart firewall is it tells you when something is trying to get OUT, too. Often that's your only clue something has gotten IN.

Weird image... it looks like some Aztec god wearing a bowtie!
