How tall is the one proposed for the civic center property?

It would be epic if we managed to get 25 stories for the waterfront development.

The max height for the proposed building at the civic center is 16 stories, but who knows maybe the city may allow a higher height

Did they release any details?

I just shake my head on what could have been when they proposed that highrise years ago at Mardi Gras Park. That was a game changer

A victory has been achieved for Downtown Mobile (whether permanent or temporary), the developers for the proposed Murphy gas station at the intersection of Broad and Government have pulled their application to the Architectural Review Board meeting on Jan 3rd after public outcry against the gas station development

I don't know what all the outcry is all about. It was previously a drugstore of little historical value. Before that, it was a Midas muffler shop. And before that it was a large building that was originally a car dealership.

At one point there was the Huxford Oil gas station up the street which had the chinese design to it. It was where the McDonald's currently is on Government Street.

Simple: it is an urban street corner in a historic district. A gas station is a woeful, ghastly underutilization of the space.

Yes but unlike the past we can make it right.

Probably under Mobile Area Developments and Projects

But anyway it seems plausible with the adjacent land that I calculated to be around 7 acres, which I guess is plausible but is also pretty small compared to the nearby 12 acre+ Lowe’s, but who knows, parking lots have been getting smaller since that Lowe’s was developed so certainly could be possible for a Home Depot to there, especially since they don’t have a footprint in South Mobile County
, plus that area of Tillmans Corner could really use a face lift and a large new development would go a long way
