It seems to me that Whiter is running the State under the ideologies of her constituents when it suits her, and kowtowing to special interests when there's some cash to sweeten the pot.

I just had a family friend call in a boat load of lawyers over a fight DNR about commercial fishing rights in the State: https://www.npr.org/2021/01/12/95614...w-restrictions

Whoever Whiter has posted to head the DNR has no interest in protecting rural economies, or supporting multi-generational family businesses. The lakes are there too look pretty, and draw tourist dollars, not to help maintain honest livelihoods. Luckily the DNR stepped down for this year after legal pressure, but they can try and pull one over on Michigan commercial fishers again next year. The goal is to have all whitefish on the menu imported from Canada, and keep Lansing's coffer's flowing with sports fishing permits.

Between this, and the grandstanding about the oil and gas pipes running under the Bridge, it seems obvious that Whiter is not governing in the best interesting of people in the UP and the Northern Lower. I don't see myself voting for her in the next election. It's really not in my best interests.

I'm aware of this, but there's been a rise in populism recently, so the phenomenon has become particularly more blatant and egregious.

I live here, I'm aware of the past restrictions.

The use of present tense is what was confusing, and misleading.

Michigan is not going to fully recover from Gretch's stupidity of last year. Several of my local restaurants have closed permanently. It's Granhole 2.0.

I've been an essential worker throughout the covid. I've worn respirators, level-A hazmat suits and such so wearing a mask doesn't bother me. Empty-nester so haven't had to worry about schools. Shop at Meijer, get take-out. My local watering hole has outside fire pits and being an ex-yooper, enjoy being out in the snow. Government policy hasn't affected me much.

We live twenty minutes from Ohio so we have been affected pretty minimally for living in Michigan. We have gone there regularly to shop and dine out since they opened back up last year with no issues. None of us have gotten covid. Maybe we're lucky, but we've ridden this pandemic out very well.

I'll be permanently leaving Michigan soon... and while there are many contributing factors.... the number one reason is her.

Again, the use of present-tense was the issue. As stated, it was flat out untrue. Period.

It's untrue Michigan restaurants have permanently closed due to Whitmer's restrictions? You need to get out in the real world and see for yourself.
