He is willing to move to any city in the southeast that is not in Florida. He says he hates florida.

I go back and forth between being okay with that compromise to not being okay with it. I have even begged him to try Miami.... I told him I would even pay all of our rent and bills if he would try it. He still refuses.

I just can't imagine myself living in a city long term that isn't as multicultural as Miami. I don't feel at home in Boston and the other major southern cities seem nice but lacking in other cultures besides white southern folk and black southern folk. If it means anything I am hispanic and culturally jewish I also love Caribbean culture.

My boyfriend is my bestfriend and the love of my life and is the only thing keeping me from plotting my return to Miami. I can't decide if I should make a compromise or not.

Also if anyone knows of any cities similar to Miami please let me know!

I miss the beaches, the Caribbean culture, the food, the friendliness, the beauty, and warm south beach nights under Palm trees ☺️
Move back to Miami. I was not being sarcastic.

You are apparently under the mistaken impression that the unemployment rate is computed using the number of people filing for benefits.

Don't be embarrassed; it's a common misconception.

Neither Houston nor Atlanta are anything like Miami. I lived in both, no need to bring them up.

Closest city in the USA to Miami is Los Angeles (I lived there too, in fact I was born there and spent my childhood there), however even Los Angeles misses the energy and life that Miami (Beach) has.

Moving elsewhere in Florida? Tampa or Orlando just miss the mark on so many levels. Tampa is the Houston with nice waters, Cubans instead of Mexicans, and retirees/shifting population instead of a true economic base. Not Miami. In my opinion, there is only one city in the USA that buzzes louder and brighter than Miami and that's New York City.

The Artist previously known as Bostonianxx hasn't lived in Miami since the 80's and he didn't grow up here. He don't count.

Aren't you just starting your career in Boston? Like Jose Jose says "wait a little, a little longer" Miami is not gonna go anywhere.

Move to Houston, lots of Hispanics there. New Orleans is another choice, it's the "Northern most Caribbean city". Austin has lots of Jews. So there are other options...

Heyyyy - that's not nice. And I left in 91, not the 80's!

But your point is kinda valid. I suppose it's possible things have changed a bit in the past 24 years.

But what you hafta understand - all that the Beach is now is because kids like me turned it around into something cool back when it was a sh*thole.

Maybe your boyfriend knows he will be miserable with Miami's climate? It takes a lot of adjustment to even get to the point where it's tolerable, especially if you're from an area with a drastically different climate. He'd be exchanging miserable winters for miserable spring, summer, and fall.

OP, I think you may be so unhappy in Boston that it's coloring how you remember Miami. Remember, you were unhappy before and you left for a reason. Try some other places in the country. There's more choices out there than just Miami and Boston. Expand your horizons, because there might be a location out there that both of you love.
