Commit to abstaining from alcohol consumption for 3-5 years and save up an enormous down-payment. That is what I did, the only difference with me is that I had no desire to start drinking again after my abstention period was over.

Are you making filun of the boomer trope or is this genuine advice? If so, how much did you drink? A $500k house would be $100k down payment. Over five years that would be about $20k, or roughly $400/week. So people spend that much on alcohol? A week? When they aren’t already rich?

Inflation-adjusted, that sounds like my spend skiing every weekend in my 20s.

People move to NH almost exclusively for money reason.

CA and NY? Definitely not for money reasons.

All the others are a mix of things, it's hard to draw a conclusion that people are moving to PA exclusively to reduce their COL.

You can find cheaper rents in LA, Oakland and NYC than Boston though.

And even if it’s the same price you have access to more social opportunities, better weather amenities and more varied career options. That’s one of the reasons for the BostonNightlife push. Be more competitive from a lifestyle standpoint with cities that cost as much or nearly as much as Boston

37.1% of pride leaving MA are 26-35 lso read in a Yankee Institute https://yankeeinstitute.org/wp-conte...ion-Trends.pdf

Add to this there a super cheap places to live in NY that are decent for young people like Buffalo and Albany. Same can be said to a lesser extent for California.

That's what I meant (bolded part).

People aren't just leaving Boston, they are leaving MA as a whole. Even the cheap parts of MA.
