It’s ridiculous. People are so obsessed with what police make and their pensions. The pensions aren’t going to be taken away from the cops who already have them and this just seems like a ridiculous thing to worry about in the world today.

Actually the army has a lot of restriction on unionization, the police should have probably similar restriction if they don't have them already.

I sure hope their fellow officers don't support these people. They stole from the pubic. They broke the trust given to them. They do not deserve support. They deserve prosecution. Public confidence in the integrity of the BPD will further erode if its members choose to support these officers.

Why should that be part of the criteria? It sucks that some cops do so many awful things to tarnish their professions reputation, generally without involving stealing and cheating taxpayers. But why would anyone bootlick so hard as to defend them in this case?

When a person lies about the hours they worked in order to get more money in their paycheck, that's fraud (a form of theft) which is a crime. The people who do that are criminals. When those criminals are in taxpayer funded positions, they are stealing taxpayer money. Period. It doesn't matter what you feel. It's indefensible and your support for these 9 criminals in this case is completely bizarre. Never in my life have I seen anyone defend a government employee's theft of public money. It doesn't matter if it's police, a T maintenance employee, a DCR laborer, or any other government employee - it's a crime and they deserved to be punished. People who work in public roles and commit these crimes are a big part of the reason there's so little trust in public employees.

Do you apply similar logic to other crimes? They burned down a business I've never been to, so why's everyone so worked up about it? They murdered someone I've never met, so why should that bother me?

I just don’t care. Either way my tax dollars are going go to something I don’t care about in the city of Boston one way or another. I recently moved out of Boston and now I could care less.
