I know if I had tested positive for antibodies, I would be more inclined to do more things socially than I am right at this moment.

Maybe we find a happy medium in the meantime until vaccines and effective treatments are developed and the risk of the virus is knocked down. At some point, people are gonna just take their chances and get the hell out of their house.

This is the best-case scenario. We will not be in the clear (if ever) until a vaccine is available a long time down the road, but even then it may have mutated.

The current sacrifices are necessary to not overwhelm (or overwhelm further) our medical facilities and personnel. Stretch out the hospital admissions, balance the load, and provide more time for antibody testing and makeshift semi-cures while the vaccine is being developed.

Will people still be able to get rentals down the cape in June ? My brother in law rents a place every June for a week. Wondering if that will still happen.

What makes you think it will be over in June? There is no vaccine. There is no mass testing capability. There is no gigantic public health organization putting anyone in contact with the disease into quarantine.

I kind of agree with this. I do agree that all lives matter and flattening the curve is very important but people do need to be somewhat responsible for themselves. But I get that there are plenty of idiots out there and the hospitals just don’t have room everyone. Not saying the people who have contracted coronavirus are to blame either but some have been more responsible than others. I just don’t think it’s fair to ruin the livelihoods of hardworking people to possibly save live or not save lives. Lives have already been lost. Other lives are currently being financially ruined. It’s a really hard situation. I just don’t know that shutting down businesses is the answer.

I think it will be. Again the goal is not that everyone is free of this -- the goal is that we don't overwhelm the hospitals. The economy effects all of us. By the middle of april there should be return to work.

There is a surge predicted in April between the 7th and 17th. People won’t be back to the office.

I don't want to be Debbie Downer but the survival rate data on COVID-19 patients who land on ventilators is pretty discouraging. The China numbers I've seen say something between 86% and 97% of patients who end up on a ventilator die. The UK data is that 66% of patients on ventilators die. I haven't seen good NYC data yet but I imagine it's not all that much better.
