Not a fan of public education in general. Heavy focus on tests. Not much practicality other than filling in bubbles. Meh. Not impressed. Even moreso in Asia.

I totally agree with that. I was shocked that most US schools do not teach economics that is unreal. Economics is more important to learn in school than other subjects but then again it is just opinion. Back to the topic MA public schools are better than the vast majority of US states so that relates to high real estate prices. Not true in every place, California is pretty average in public education and it is expensive so it still hard to have a direct link.

Getting back to California prices: There is a *sick* tax law that allows a family to pass down their home to kids/grandkids and LOCK in the low property tax for your entire family line forever!

Eg. you bought a house in 1980 for 200k, your property tax at the time is $2000 a year. You pass the home down to family generations and 100 years later in 2080, your family still pays around $2000 a year while the new neighbor pays $50000 a year. For a liberal state, this is sick

https://www.sfgate.com/realestate/ar...ay-2878099.php

No wonder the demand is crazy, no one ever sells and everyone wants to buy to lock in todays property tax for eternity
Does MA have something similar?

Surprised that Russia is so high on that page, and Norway/Sweden so low.

I'm not at all. Russia has a rich history...back to the 1800s...of producing world-renowned mathematicians and physicists.

And if you look at the box chart you see TNs 75th percentile is well below MA 25th.

True. Just find it interesting how these stats don't correlate well to wealth on the international stage. However in the US there is a correlation between wealth and the test scores.

I used to live in Russia for a bit. Very literary society. It's not uncommon for educated Russians to know vast amounts of poetry by heart.

Contrary to the modern wave of Russophobia, Russia does actually have a lot of admirable cultural traits.

- 2300 ft on a 6000 ft lot
- Very busy street
- No room to expand given lot size and city ordinances
- Under agreement in a week
- Listed at 979 and sold for 950 (cash) .... only reason it went for under ask is cash buyer/developer

Wow!

Not liveable? What? It may be fully gutted, but in no world does it need to be at all. Refinish some floors, couple of patches, coat of paint, good to go.
