I haven't seen anything on the hoof since last week. Someone got a 254# buck up in KI though. Nice mount. The rest is probably deer burger.

Not seeing much around here except a few tracks and scrapes. We're getting night pics on the game camera too, but I think the buck's hanging around up behind the houses during the day.

Last night, after legal time, the big doe blew at Steve when he came down to the field. Tonight, after legal time, I came down from the stand, walked 125 yards into the field to get a scent tag from a tree, walked all the way back to the stand to get the rest of my stuff and it was quiet. Steve stepped into the clearing and a deer blew at us (him, I'm sure it's him they don't like! ) maybe 100' from the stand. I think they've figured us out. Two other hunters have been in the stand this week. I think the deer know we appear and disappear after sunset so they aren't showing up until then. I know they're in the feed plot at night because I found fresh droppings this afternoon. If you keep doing the same thing you keep getting the same result. I need to figure out Plan B.

I learned how to use Steve's call thingy this morning so he bought one for me. I can now grunt like a buck and a doe. Seriously, I never thought I'd hear those words coming from my mouth! I need to play with it to figure out the other five calls.

Plan B shouldn't be too hard. I know how to make scrapes and use lure on them and how to use the call. I can use these to put together a new plan for Monday.

Okay, but I'm tellin' ya, if you start pawing the ground or marking trees, then I'm having you locked up.

Smile they're all in my dooryard!

Driving home last night I passed the big neighborhood buck on the main road again. I think the deer hang out on the ocean side of the road during the day and move back into the center of OH after dusk when it's safe . All of the hunting goes on in the center; the perimeter is densely settled.

There are plenty of deer here. Good grief, I'm living in a deer yard. After I passed Mr. Buck on the road, I turned down into where I'm staying and I counted seven deer. This was in the rainy dark, so there may have been more. Every day, a doe and three of this year's young are out in the field. There's a group of six turkeys that pass through/hang out daily. And the other morning as I was coming home at daybreak, two coyote fled the field when they saw me.

My friend and I worked several small pieces of woods near my house today. On the way out to the truck we jumped a medium sized 4-6 point buck that zoomed over a stone wall and ran directly toward the only house in the area. They're pretty smart! We'll go in there later in the week and see if we can find him again. It's always fun to see them!

Just got home from welcoming friends home. There are five bucks. I cut off the deer on the far right. These were taken on a hunting trip in Ontario.
