I have a digital remote sensing thermometer. The road surface on Route 6 was 21 degrees when it started torain. I had to go to Bangor and there were numerous tracks where people had left I-95 and been pulled back into the road. I didn't see any that showed evidence of rollovers. Slow down, people. Those spots where the sun never shines are always colder and that's where ice forms first.

Last year I decided to wash my snowmobile on a nice warm day. I learned there is something even more slippery than wet ice. That is soapy wet ice!. I did a full body slam. People with my hair color should not do body slams. Fortunately, there was no injury except to my dignity. Nobodygot it on video.

Well, I got back from Bangor all in one piece. I-95 has areas of very dense fog. There will be a mile of relatively clear visibility and then on level ground through a swamp, very dense fog with visibility of 100 yards or less. If you come on a stopped vehicle or some stopped vehicles you won't be able to stop. This is not a good night to be on the road.

There is a full moon, but you would never know it. It is DARK dark out there.

I just got home from a potluck up in Dover-Foxcroft. The roads are fun tonight. In many places the fog is thick enough that visibility is less than one car-length, and there is a stiff wind.

48 degrees currently with a mix of sun and clouds.
We will have our white Christmas, as always. This warmth and rain will make our snow pack drop a bit but we have already had close to 50 inches of snow this year in Caribou. There is still at least a foot of snow on my lawn. It will harden up tonight and by Monday the ski and snowmobile groomers will have everything ready for the big vacation week ahead.

I just checked a bunch of Maine webcams.....looking really green for most of the state.

If this rain had been snow I would have been snow blowing all night.....lol

Rule of thumb is, (with average humidity and barometric pressure), 1'' of rain equals 10' of snow! Yep we coulda' added a couple more feet!

Went for a nice ride on the side by side today, didn’t have to use heater, not much snow left in the woods in Washington County

All the ice left the drivewy in Robbinston. I still had to pay the fellow for plowing the drive earlier this week.
