I watched part of the video, he said he's working 14 hour shifts...at current min wage that's like $203 a day? ..he's not paying rent, doesn't do drugs /drink. He can't get a bus ride or flight back to Seattle...where he said he wants to go back to?..
Something doesn't add up...

He said that he wouldn't be paid the same in Seattle for what he's doing here.

"Before Tuesday’s (5/21) news conference, Newsom spoke with Tekal Carlisle, 42, who lived on the streets of Oakland for years before she came to the Henry Robinson Multiservice Center. Carlisle said the program, which houses people for up to six months, allowed her to rebuild her life and look for work without having to lug her possessions with her."

Newsom taps task force leaders to address California’s rising homeless population:

Our city is selling us out out and hardly anyone in L.A even realizes what is being done.

They know this is a problem but they want to please these radical groups .

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles City Council moved closer Wednesday to approving a settlement of a lawsuit that addresses the private property of homeless people on Skid Row.

The council voted 12-2 to authorize the city attorney to finalize the proposed settlement, which would still need to be finalized by a judge. No details have yet been publicly released.

The City Council previously voted 10-2 in March to authorize the city attorney to negotiate the details of the settlement, which signaled the city will likely accept a policy limiting its power on encampment cleanups.

How is the City "selling you out"? From your link

Quote:
But in response to the lawsuit, Carl Mitchell v. City of Los Angeles, a federal judge issued an injunction barring Los Angeles police and sanitation officers from seizing and destroying homeless people’s property in and near Skid Row. U.S. District Judge S. James Otero’s injunction also ordered the city to segregate and store impounded belongings where they can be recovered.
They are trying to settle this. The injunction means they can't collect or discard any property, by settling it they are agreeing to limit what they discard. They probably want to be able to discard property that is dangerous or a biohazard, right now they can't do squat.

Highly disturbing report from Joel Grover about the homeless trash heaps festering typhus infected rats...viewer discretion is advised, and I do not suggest watching this if you've recently eaten.

They don’t stand for the taxpayers that employ them .

Not a single reference to the homeless or to “homeless trash heaps” in that article, exitus.

There is, however, a reference to typhus infected fleas on animals waiting to be adopted at the animal shelter ... which, I would point out, is also not a homeless-connected vector.

Quote:
Rats carrying typhus-infected fleas were found around LA last fall, according to county health department records obtained by the I-Team. The agency did not provide details about where the fleas were found, saying that information would cause confusion and unnecessary alarm, but the I-Team discovered that typhus-infected fleas were found on animals waiting to be adopted at the North Central Animal Shelter.

OMG two appellate judges have enjoined them from discarding property belonging to homeless, what is there to fight?

Los Angeles has long struggled with how to clean up and regulate homeless encampments and in 2016 passed a law limiting the amount of belongings a homeless person can store on the sidewalk to 60 gallons. But in response to the lawsuit, Carl Mitchell v. City of Los Angeles, a federal judge issued an injunction barring Los Angeles police and sanitation officers from seizing and destroying homeless people’s property in and near Skid Row. You want to wait two or three years and take it to the 9th circuit and then to the Supreme Court? Why, so that the City can make their argument that they have the right to throw away people's property? They can't win that one, not even in front of conservative justices.

LA created this mess by ignoring what was happening for years; the loss of affordable SRO's, cheap motels torn down, and ever increasing rent with no commensurate increase in the sources of income available to many homeless people - SSI, SS and SSDI. Where did LA think these people would go jm? The City (and the County) sat back and allowed it to happen, just like other cities have done and are doing right now across the US.

Here's a link to the case that was filed in 2016, you might want to read it. https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...ent/p8/a458416

Typhus infected trash heaps are property? come on you know that is not true just like everyone else knows that is not true.

Yes they should fight it and it should be a priority. I am sure if you lived here you would feel the same way.

All of those things you mentioned are irrelevant. There are plenty plenty places in America that have expensive housing and they don't have the problems of Los Angeles. We (the tax payers) are under no obligation to house (at tax payer expense /subsidy) every single person on the planet that wants to live here in L.A.
