use their online site and enter your meter reading every month or u will keep getting estimated bills... my biggest bill so far this year was about $170, that was for august i think when i had the AC going every day and night.... i have a small house though and gas for stove, hot water, etc.. earlier in the year before i started using the AC the bills were usually under $100 a month
almost new construction.2200 sq ft. 4 bed 2 1/2 bath victorian.2 car garage
finished basement is approx another 900 sq feet or so.2 zone gas heat and CAC.
nothing major.
Still sounds kind of expensive. What town is that?
I have a different LIPA problem. We just moved into a house and had our electric upgraded to 200 amps. The electrician noticed that the power line over our house was old and had to be changed and he contacted LIPA to let them know. Well, turns out that LIPA no longer places lines over homes because it's a hazard. Since the line now has to be "moved" they say we have to pay $3000 to have it moved. The crazy thing is, it's their old line. When I asked if it could stay there, the LIPA worker said no because it's old and has to be changed. I said if it has to be changed, then just change it. She said she couldn't because it now has to be moved, she can no longer put lines over houses. It was sort of a catch 22, but I am curious if anyone else has had this LIPA issue. The electrician said they they always just change the line when it gets old, he's never had them ask for money since it's LIPA's lines. This issue still has not been resolved for me.

So let me get this straight. Its their old line that has to be moved and they want you to foot the bill? Give them 3000 swift kicks in the rear.
That has to be bullcrap. My friend works for LIPA (and hopefully I will be, too!) and he said LIPA is responisble for anything from outside the box on the home to the pole. a few years ago, lightening hit a "bolt" that held the wire onto my home and it cause jolts in my system. lipa came and repaired it. I did, however have to remind them it was on thier dime, and not mine because I told them I was fully aware that I was no responsible.

Is it 3K to move the line, or will they move the service at the same time, seeing as lines can no longer be run over the house?
I think theyre pulling some crap with the Aug meter readings.
Its like theyre trying to shore up the balance sheets.
I thought they were a public trust?

My wife called them and complained about our $550 bill. They called her back at work and she couldn't talk. They said they will call back.
next day, they call her (At work) and she says she has the bill at home and can't read the meter.
OK, we'll call you back tomorrow.
Tommorow comes, she gets a AUTOMATED call informing her that they consider the case closed.
I have a manufactured home, a trailer, in Montauk.. Last month's LIPA bill was $269.00 and we were only out there for a few days. Its only 600 square feet. The hot water is off. The heat is on very low. The refrigerator is on. That's all. Most of my neighbors pay $50, $70 MAX.
I have to complain to the Manager but LIPA does not provide an address for him/her.
This is a complere rip off. I don't care what the jacked-up meters say. We are getting robbed.
