The thing I find almost funny is how LIPA and the LIRR are two of the most expensive services in the country, both with about the worst service records in their respective businesses.

^lol. finally came back on at 1pm. going to the square tomorrow, still there like 25% of the time for old friends, kids' friends, etc. on a side note, fs was never this scary without power. it's pitch black where we are but my wife cleverly put the solar yard lights all over the house and aside from screaming kids, no tv or internet or ac, you would have thought the lights were on
God help us if we have a really active tropical storm season. Clearly no one is tending to the overbrush and trees growing over and into the high tension lines.

I did that once but did not enjoy all the nasty bugs that were in them since they were from the flower beds.
Anyway, we've had pretty good luck with no outages here in a long time. Parents not so lucky just a half mile away. Depends on the lines outside and the trees of course.
