Now that NASA has proven the concept, it’s up to commercial plane makers to adopt the technologies and figure out how they can use them to make other aircraft quieter. These initial flights show that small jets can be hushed, and the results should scale up to much larger aircraft. “The intent is that it can be used on current and future large transports, like the 777 aircraft,” says Weinert. Eventually that could make life near airports a little quieter—and help cut at least one of the costs of flying.
When we first moved to Huntington, it was relatively quiet. Over the last year or so, it feels like we are living near Kennedy Airport! Sometimes I hear planes flying over every 30 seconds, one after the other, many with jet engines screaming. I wrote to town supervisor Chad Lupinacci and followed up with an e-mail, but he didn't bother to reply. Shan't vote for him again! This has got to stop, affecting my health. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!!!

Where do you think they are flying, based on your description the jets would be on a final approach not 30 miles out from JFK or LGA?
