Just to be clear.. This is the line from the pole to your house correct? I think there may be some type of confusion there. I would agree that the power lines which may run in your backyard/front yard should be trimmed back, but do not know where the responsibility lies for trimming when its the connection to your house.

See my post above directly from the LIPA webpage. LIPA is responsbile for the line from the pole up to the weatherhead on your house. If this line breaks, they have to fix it. ANything from the weatherhead and in your house is the homeowners.

LIPA cleared branches on the line from the pole to my house earlier this year without a problem.
