No 'smoking' involved.
Was referring to 100k right out of school with no experience

Yup. That's the starting pay right out of school. Her first job 15 years ago was $60,000.

Agreed - dont go the law route! To have any level of success you need to cut your teeth at a good firm and that is horrific time - at best. Pharmacists do very well and have alot of options - hospital; corporate; retail - im going to encourage my kids (granted theyre 7 and 10 ) to consider pharmacy.

Oh and that starting pay doesnt account for overtime pay - yes - pharmacists get overtime pay!

Just curious...would a natural male sibling who becomes an attorney be considered a brother-in-law?

I have a friend who just recently graduated from Touro Pharmacy school here in Las Vegas. She is now working at Walgreens and I believe she was offered around 90k to start. She told me that she would likely max out around 110k since really there is not much upward mobility. Her base work week is 42 hours I believe and she gets paid overtime over that. Also, she doesn't have a "home" pharmacy, she travels all over Vegas filling in wherever she is needed. Also, you'll be working evenings, weekends, holidays, and graveyard shifts.

Assuming you have your undergrad with necessary pre-reqs (o-chem, bio, etc.), you're looking at three years at 40k a year tuition.

I am sure the freelance pharmacist making $92/hr gets no benefits or paid time off, which may work if you have a spouse giving you benefits.

Pharmacy sounds like a good bet, but I know a lot of people who have went or are working on going down that route (a few are doing missed undergrad prereqs). When will that well dry up? Still, seems like a good bet for now.

I think the well might be starting to show signs of drying up. I recently overheard the comment that a certain company is saturated with pharmacist and has stopped actively recruiting from Pharm schools in most areas.
