I was planning on flying out to vegas, but have had a change of plans. Now I will have to drive out, I have to be there on July 1st. Does anyone know the quickest route from Jersey to Vegas, I am traveling with pets so I would like to get there as quickly as possible. I was planning to leave Jersey on the 28th to arrive by the 1st in Vegas. How many days would it take to drive and what would be the best hotels to stop along the way?

Thanks for the help!

When I left Jersey for Las Vegas, I left Atlantic city at 7:00am, across the Walt Whitman Bridge to Interstate 70 across PA like a scalded dawg to Terre Haute IN [spent the night to catch my breath] and then off again to Hays KS [snow made me stop there] spent a few days in Denver area, then left Denver at 7:00am and hit Las Vegas at 10:00pm.....I-70 all the way to Central Utah, turn left on I15 and head downhill to Las Vegas.... since you dont have to worry abt snow I would estimate 3.5 days without driving too hard....

It took me 5 days doing 500 to 600 miles per day. I just didnt want to push it. Many people do more, some do much more. I headed south as quickly as possible to 40 because I left in the dead of winter and did not want to run into snow. This time of year I would take a more northern route 70 before heading south.

No matter which route you take there are rest stops for your dog and you on every interstate highway in every state except for Nevada. Nevada does not believe in them. But by the time you reach Nevada you will be close enough to not need to stop.

Have a safe trip........

I-80 to I-280 to I-80 to I-70. This is the route my friends take when driving from NJ.

I am driving out in a month and am taking the I-40 route. We are going to visit my parents in NC first.
I am excited about moving! The air and everything seems to help my minor facial problems etc. I am counting the days now til our move

Thanks everyone, these routes seem to correspond with the directions I got online. I think the northern route for where I am in Jersey will be best. I'm curious about driving through Colorado though, most of what I've read talked about the elevation levels, did you find this to be difficult driving? I have a 2003 Honda Accord, it's been serviced and I am purchasing new tires before I leave. I'm hoping that I can manage the trip in 3 days, but I don't want to push it....DesertPalm, good luck, my mom also lives in N.C. Greenville to be exact

Colorado is really a piece o cake....yes, you do go high up....but it's a four lane highway and when you hit the top it's downhill all the way to Greenriver Utah.....the uphill in Utah is also four lane and is an easy drive....you may experience a little "richness" in the rockies but that will settle out once you get to Vegas... I-70 is a VERY easy drive.....I would worry more about the flooding then I would the Rockies.

Smile Here at last!!!!

Well after much planning, and driving...I'm finally here in LV. I got into town on July 1st as planned. Thanks to everyone for your helpful advice and tips. My neighborhood is really nice (The Lakes), I'm just hoping that I get assigned to a school nearby. So far I'm loving it!!!!!!
