I lived here for mannnnny years....then moved to Atlantic City Area for 8 yrs, then back here.....the only thing I miss from NJ is the Italian food....we have NO Italian restaurants in LV....they have Italian names and serve Italian titled items on their menu but they AIN't Eyetalian......

If I had never moved to NJ I would be perfectly happy cause I would have never known the differance.

Just wondering SCIFIFAN, were you able to do the applications online and over the phone, or did you fly out for the interviews before you got the job? Thanks.

I send you some Italian food, if you send me some Jack-In-The-Box tacos.

Yes, you can complete the application online. When you are finished you will receive an email from HR telling you exactly what you need to send. I would recommend to start the process before you move, because like I said it took me about 6 months to finish everything. The interview can be done over the phone. Also, they send recruiters all around the country to do face to face interviews. I interviewed with a recruiter in Newark. They have a recruitment schedule on the website as well. I do know that right now the district is still experiencing budget cuts, so I'm not sure they are hiring right now, but a good way to get your foot in the door would be to become a permanent sub. Since this was my first year I was low on the senority list for my building and wasn't sure if I would stay, but it worked out, we also had a perm. sub who was also hired as a full-time teacher.

In addition to my favorite pizza, I miss my guilty pleasure: White Castles...I also miss eating waffles and ice cream on the boardwalk at Belmar & Point Pleasant. But I do have to say, there are some great burger joints here...My sister visited me and I took her to IN & Out and now that's practically all she wants to do when she's here...lol

Come on dyn...I come from Little Italy too, and I know of some great Eyetalian restaurants in Lost Wages. In fact Gina's Bistro is so Italian everyone who works there, including the owners, came from Italy. I will say though that I think the Italian food we get in the USofA can be better than the Italian food I got in Roma. I'd give you some others but mama mia is calling me to dinner. Gotta go. Ciao bella.

When I lived in Laredo people from Vegas used to ask me if they had a lot of Taco Bells, as if Taco Bell is really Mexican food. I laughed my a** off at that. Taco Bell in a city that is more related to Mexico than the U.S.? I don't think so.
