Man, this thread totally grossed me out. (But I couldn't stop reading.)

Just so you know, Roaches are all over the southern US. From Florida to California, and every state inbetween. It's not a Vegas thing.

I don't know about apartments, but in homes they are easy to control if you keep clean, close up the gaps to the outside, and do an extermination to rid any current infestation. If you have an infestation and don't attack and destroy with a "shock and awe" approach at first, then they will stick around. But if you unleash hell on them up front, and keep clean after that, you should be fine.

Exactly, but a lot of people will just get rid of them, and them wait until the situation gets bad again, and then the process just keeps going and going. If you get them under control, and then keep up maintenance, then you will have it taken care of.

Wow, its like I started this thread myself. I just moved into a "luxury" condo about a mile from where this person is living, and I have the exact same problem. However, I am more concerned with the local bark scorpion infestation. I have seen them outside, but have not found one in my condo yet (thank God). Does anyone have any advice/experience for dealing with and preventing scorpion infestation? If I find one inside I won't be able to sleep that night!

Hey... I"m from Long Island and I saw your post about the roach problem. I"m a german roach specialist in the field of pest control. Your problem is going to get worse until you get the landlords attention or you call in your own company privatly threw recommendation or yellow book or phone book. What your boyfriend can do is go out and purchase a high powered flash light. Something skinny black like a mag light, but not to big, about 3/4 foot long mabye less. Take this flashlight and look under the sink and in and around cracks and behind wood fridge whatever, just look around. Go to the store and purchase something called "Home Defense," its made by a company called ortho, that can be purchased in Home Depot. Lay a medium cover spray to these areas, like behind the fridge and around the lamp and along the baseboards, under the heaters, and bsically were ever you see them with your flashlight. You have to do a lot of inspecting and know were to look. It takes time and there are "Food Bait," not spray that the company you choose can use to minimize any athsma related problems and can be used in an infants crib if need be. These gel roach bait syringes pump out a highly attractive roach bait that actually attracts them to were the bait is placed. This will then alow them to feed on t he bait killing the entire colony and like magic you have your home back. It shouldn't take more than 2-3 visits depending on what kinda methods they wana use to correct the problem with, but I would ask for the Gel or Baiting treatment for German Roach's, cause you say there really small. If you want the site to purchase the bait let me know, but I would recommend calling somebody recommended or talk to a representative in a pest control company about whats goin on and how much its gona cost. Don't let it just continue cause its gona get worse. call a local pest control company they will help!!

Jason

And another thing, I've worked in the worst of the Bronx and have seen major infestations and have destroyed colony by colony by using a good flashlight and professional cockroach baits with tight metal c/c tips. My friend lives in Las Vegas who was born and raised out here in Long Island and he's really enjoyin the lifestyle in Las Vegas. He helps arange and guide people who wana experience the night life, who wana experience the good clubs and only the best or what would suit them best. You think there would be a lot of work for pest control in las Vegas? The job situation really is pretty bad out their eh? Buy Home Defense by Ortho its like a white bottle pump spray.

What is surprising here? Like anyone else cockroaches look to improve their lifestyle. Imagine how they feel now that they've moved up in the world to a "luxury " condo, that someone else who made the same upgrade is complaining.

Why take offense??? Perhaps you leave more tasty things to eat - all over your condo and because of this are making many new friends.

Remember now that you've upped your status to "luxury" condo, you can expect the same of your guests. These aren't North Las Vegas cockroaches, these guys eat more - grow bigger and have a lot more sex than their struggling neighbors to the north.

This is Thanksgiving- just leave that turkey out for a day or two ... you turkey~ LOL

How much does it cost to have someone come out and spray once a month?

Its more of a pain in the rump to keep moving trying to escape the roaches. I live in a highrise and guess what...I get the occassional "waterbug" cockroach from the drainpipes. Its Vegas, and they are everywhere.

I think the bug man can be more specific, but the German variety (the small reddish brown ones) are the "dirty roaches" that breed from uncleanliness. The larger ones are just what Vegas refers to as "water roaches"

Follow the advice, get a bug man and keep it regular.

You should be bug free in no time!
