Well I guess not really a war. I'm a big burger fan and today I figured I would try out Fat Burger. I ordered a large combo. $12.00 and some change. I guess the burger shock was my fine because I pulled in In-N-Out Burger but there was a guy standing near the door hitting people up for change and I didn't feel like dealing with it.

Don't get me wrong I usually give to a few people but today I wasn't feeling it. Well I think the In-N-Out animal combo (I don't like the fries) is about $7.00 and some change? It would have been cheaper just to give the guy a dollar and keep it moving.

Yea I know I could have said heck to the FB price but I was at the counter and was hungry. So the moral of the story is sometimes not giving can cost you more.

Or you could man up and say no to panhandlers.

Saying "NO" to panhandlers is actually better for them. And, it's better for you too. It's a win-win for both parties - according to the homeless organizations I've worked with.

I discovered Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers a couple days ago. A friend of mine took me for helping him fix his car. WOW. It was under 6 bucks for a double combo and it was the best fast food I've ever put in my mouth. As soon as I become gainfully employed I'm taking the family.

Ok, back on topic. I was at mcdonalds drive through a while back and this dude starts going down the line of cars knocking on windows begging for change. Before he even go to my window I made sure to make it clear that he wasn't getting anything.
I'm eating at mcdonalds, obviously I don't have any extra money!!!

I wonder if Freddy's is owned by the same guy who started Create. That place specialized in burgers and house-made frozen custard as well. It was great when he was running it, but he sold the place and the new owner swiftly ran it into the ground.

As far as panhandlers go, I'm really getting tired of seeing people with more expensive shoes than I have on, asking me for money or holding up a sign.

I have on occasion given money to people who asked me for help. A young guy who lost his apartment and was sleeping outside of his fast-food job until he got his next paycheck. He bought food with that five bucks, and chatted me up while he was eating it. A young pregnant woman with a little boy in tow. ( I bought him some food and handed it to him before I gave her the twenty. She said Shade Tree was full that night)
And a developmentally challenged kid whose roommate would beat him up if he didn't bring in enough money each day.

It's not that hard to tell the truly down-on-their-luck types from the scammers.

As far as burgers go, I prefer Fatburger to In-N-Out anyway. I think In-n-Out is overrated.

I do not get the appeal of In-n-out at all. It was so plain and not good.

I have a question about panhandlers. I am usually in the west part of Las Vegas. Are there not enough organizations helping the homeless and/or do people really want to live like this. I do know that in some places the homeless shelters are so dangerous & essentially not helpful (leave in the am back In the evening for a limited period
Of time). Is that the case here?

Freddy's is a chain that started in the Midwest, tons of them to the east of Vegas. It is a good deal especially if you like a lot of fries. Custard is pretty decent too.
