Las Vegas needs to go international. Make a deal with the airlines and the Gov. to get direct flights to LV and theme the strip international. The globe is getting smaller and just from a stand point of casino's they are all over the country. Book international entertainment. Maybe build one clean hotel. Nothing but Country and Gospel music and entice many of the religion conventions to that one hotel. Make it 20 and under friendly and plan spring break towards the kids. That way parents and kids 20 and under will stay there and the kids can have concerts or whatever in the hotel and the parents can go gamble or whatever at the other hotels.

LV needs to adapt to the world and the change of society. Make LV the entertainment capitol of the world. One other idea is a sports cam[ facility. Book teams to fly in to one lone location for sports instruction. Hire former sports professionals and bring in kids for about a week for instruction. House and feed the kids at one location. Just try to get all the casino owners to fund the camp for the kids so there's no completion on that venture but encourage the parents to come along. Give the parents a discount for their stay on the strip or something like that. Hey who know maybe something can be done with education too. Just give people a reason to come to LV beyond gambling.. Then let the one arm bandits do their thing.

I would hate to see the Riviera go. I know it's had it's struggles, but I love the old properties.

As business picks up for Vegas and they start building again it might be a good experiment to force some variety. Meaning, instead of doing away with the themed casinos, extentuate the themes. Go back to a stronger Egyptian theme for the Luxor, go back to the MGM movie themes at the MGM, etc. But don't build any new themed casinos. If The Cosmo is an example of "new Vegas" then build the newer casinos in that style. And then keep the older casinos like The Flamingo, The Riviera, The Tropicana as a tribute to classic Vegas.
If tourism returns and the area is booming again there is enough room to offer something for everyone.

Default Hotels and Casinos on Las Vegas Strip would be demolished before 2030

City center and Cosmo have the hottest-most happening night clubs, bars and ultra lounges on the strip behind Wynn and Encore. That's where all the celebrities are being seen these days. Lines are always 200 feet long just to get in the door with $70 cover charge for men. The themed joints just can't host or charge these prices.(maybe they can but just don't)

With that said, I think themed joints are good for Vegas. They are the originators of what started this town. But the number crunchers that work for these properties are seeing a different view than what we see. Otherwise, we would see more joints like TI, Circus Circus and NYNY.

I also read somewhere that the tourists that love "cheesy" Vegas are the people who spend the least amount of money. A tourist that prefers the high-end hotel/casinos will probably out spend 3-4 of those that like "cheesy".

Is? You mean was. It's already gone. And I'd hardly call it iconic. It was the Barbary Coast for many years but Bill's for only a few.

I agree, it's all about the almighty buck. I'm pretty sure most people spend more than I do on the Strip! I spent more when I was just visiting, but none at CC or Cosmopolitan. I don't do clubs either and I don't like the whole celebrity hype. Stand in mile long lines, pay big bucks to get in and for drinks, just to get a 'glimpse' of Kim Kardashian? No thanks.

Those number crunchers definitely don't have me in mind! (don't blame them!)

I think you're overlooking Hakkasan @ MGM.

Yes I did overlook that one. Hakkasan definitely is the newest and hottest spot on the strip. MGM pulled a wild card move. Probably shocked the entire night life industry with that one.

Hope it lasts. Other older strip properties that try to get into the mega night club realm seen to fail.(Flamingo)

I guess i'm alone on this but I like Excalibur, to many of the hotels are just modern luxury. I want some crazy themed ones. Wish Stardust was still around and go real crazy with the space theme

Bally's is not going away anytime soon. The north hotel tower can not be imploded. Also the city council will not authorize the time length needed to close Flamingo road for a tower demolition.
