OP... just tell them you moved and if you need to use the trash, sneak out in the middle of the night and drop a bag in front of your neighbors home.

It's a mandatory public service(tax). They establish your account based on Clark county records. As long as you are still the property owner, you are responsible for the fee. If you owe "tax", there will be a lien. Call RS at 702-735-5151 to find out.

Agreed f.2, that's one of the reasons they get Christmas gifts from me.

I love the service being rendered by Republic Services in our condo complex. Regular service and very tidy crew that comes in our place. Thank you Republic Services.

I was really surprised (thrown for a loop) having to pay for service for the few months I owned my house before arriving from out of state. This is also the first time I've ever had to pay for garbage service -- was included in property tax everywhere I lived. Not used to the restrictions of what they will/won't take and how much. I can remember 1x all my garbage was not taken in all those years prior to moving here. While they did take holidays off, they would show up the following day, so that was no big deal.

About the only restriction we had -- that doesn't seem to apply here -- is yard waste, it had to be bagged in large brown paper bags, separate from your garbage/recycle containers. Guess I had that pretty good before, in that regard.

If I do a search on the Clark County Recorder's site for the white trash family down the street, I count five liens on their property from Republic Services since 2010, and just as many from the city of Las Vegas for what I assume is unpaid sewer, and the HOA for unpaid HOA fees. They hadn't paid their mortgage in four years and their house was FINALLY sold at auction recently.
