DessertRat, if you want more of an open space feel to where you live in Las Vegas, choose the perimeter of the valley. This way you are closer to wide open spaces and don't feel so hemmed in. I hate being in the muck of it all, and I live in Aliante, which is still on the edge of the valley for now. Close to the mountains, have great views from my windows, plus everything else is just a short drive. So you can have both.

If North Las Vegas did change its name to improve its image I wonder what some good names would be...? I like Jackpot, but that is already taken.

We are moving to a new house in Ardiente (near Losee and Tropical). its a bit bleak all around us, but we hope that eventually the town will grow around us and our house value will double. We are close to mountains on the North and East. But we have to travel 20-30 minutes to get to good restaurants.

Sorry...you already missed the days where house prices in LV will double. It may just take your whole lifetime. If you buy now, they will probably go down in value before they go up.

Ok, maybe not double. But we've bought low, and I've been around long enough to know its all cyclical. Anyway, the same house in Los Angeles would be over a million!

It will double eventually since real estate moves in cycles.
Yes, we are in the outskirts of the valley, but businesses will soon come.
The actual center of the city boundaries is at Centennial and Bruce so just imagine all the area left for development.
A mall is planned for the SE corner of Craig and 5th, to be called Desert Star. Should bring more action.
The Cannery does provide good down to earth entertainment. Give it a couple of years and more casinos will come

Actually the City of North Las Vegas is limiting the amount of approved casinos...
