Yes, North Las Vegas is it's own city. So is Henderson. Separate from Las Vegas. But we consider the whole valley Las Vegas.

You can tell when you've crossed over the line because the street signs in Las Vegas are green, and in NLV they are blue. I keep forgetting to check Henderson's.

Everyone be careful...the biggest municipaitly in Clark County is none of the above. The largest single set of population lives outside all the cities.

Interesting... are there any major positives or negatives to living in these unincorporated areas?

More libertarian...less regulation. Minor tax advantage.

Hardly. The Strip and many other tourist venues are in the unincorporated areas of the Valley.

The three cities each have city council/mayoral governments, and the county has the County Commission. Rory Reid, the Senator's kid who was running for governor and lost, was Chairman of the County Commission. The job of governor is a step down. The budget he controlled is larger than the State budget. Not sure if there are more county employees than State, but Clark County employees are the highest paid government employees in Nevada. And, if it weren't for the casinos in Clark County, Nevada wouldn't need a governor ...just a night watchman. Clark County, Nevada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most of the time, when they move throughout the Valley, people frequently have to ask if the new living quarters are in the city or the county as they can't really tell the difference.

BTW: Clark County is one of only 16 counties in Nevada, and not the largest one by any means, but it is nearly the size of New Hampshire, and about 95% of the county population is in what we refer to as Las Vegas, and we have about 75% of the entire state population here in Clark County.
