"The best man at my wedding was a dealer there. His name was Steve. They didn't let the dealers take a real lunch break when I was there, so the hostess would get the orders to go in a styrofoam container (at least on the graveyard shift)."

I don't remember a Steve, but then dealers there came and went pretty fast there, just like everywhere else. I broke in on grave but moved to 1st shift pretty quickly. I remember the casino boss, Gladys. She was from NJ, I think. We called her the wicked witch from the East. You're right, we only got a 20 minute breaks, so you had to choke your food down pretty quick or take it with you. But it was not a bad job. Rules were loose and tokes were good. I just got greedy and moved to the strip.

Yeah, tips weren't too bad. It was 1991 and I cleared about a hundred bucks a night waitressing on graveyard. The people there (both employees and customers) were strange folks in ways, but also some of the nicest people I've ever met. A bunch of regular truckers from Smith's baked me a birthday cake once. Not store-bought, one of them actually baked it.

I also learned some good dirty jokes and how to swear in Espanol.

Sorry to get nostalgic but I used to love the chicken fried steak at a place called Cousins which was next to the longhorn over on Decatur near Meadows mall.

Thanks to all for the tips. I'll try to make it to some of the places that you recommended for sure.

Just had some wonderful chicken fried steak at the Santa Fe Mining Company. It was fork tender and so big two people could have eaten it. Came with 3 eggs, hash browns (hugh amount) and biscuits and gravy - all for 9.95! The Santa Fe Mining Company is right across the street from the Santa Fe Station. We have never had a bad meal there although this was our first time for breakfast. It's open 24/7

For some reason (and I'm not quite sure why) I tend to end up at coffee shop at what was Terrible's Casino, for breakfast at least once a trip. I've been known to get the chicken fried steak. It was good, and if you get the large portion, huge (if I'm getting a small portion, the large portion has got to be actively gigantic.) Just get the gravy on the side.

Not in LV, but the cafe at Hacienda on the way to Hoover Dam makes a killer CFS!

Village Pub. Tried the one on Eastern in Henderson and it was good

Was it a real home made or another frozen premade like everybody else seems to serve in the valley.
