What a coincidence. I was dealing BJ there in 94 and 95. Never met Leonard but I loved his biscuits and gravy also.

I was seeing my cardiologist for a checkup a few weeks ago. Everything looked okay and so I was kidding with him about getting a chicken fried steak and he starts telling me about how he makes his own. I guess its a case of "do as I say and not as I do".

The best man at my wedding was a dealer there. His name was Steve. They didn't let the dealers take a real lunch break when I was there, so the hostess would get the orders to go in a styrofoam container (at least on the graveyard shift).

As far as your cardiologist and his chicken fried steak- all things in moderation.

I looked to see if Steiner's had chicken fried steaksince their food is typically pretty good, but I didn't see it on the menu. Shari's Diner had it, but I think they closed.

I haven't eaten there in awhile but Shucks (several locations) 3.95 breakfast menu has chicken fried steak on it and you dont need a knife to cut it, just a fork. decent size too. ask for extra gravy. May not be best of the best but sure is best price I've seen for a decent one.

I once caught my cardiologist smoking. Likewise a cancer surgeon - at a call in show on Ch-3 for cancer info.

Shari's Dinner should have never opened. That was the worst food and the worst service in the country.

it opened. It closed. it re-opened under new ownership and the food really wasn't bad at all. It's hard to overcome a bad reputation / location though. In Anthony Bourdain's book "Kitchen Confidential" he strongly cautions against opening a restaurant in a location that previously failed.

You see it again and again, though. Nestled in the shopping center where Market Grille and Panera are very successful, there is a tiny little Asian place. This is the third attempt at an Asian restaurant that I've seen in that same space. Really?

Actually it is probably the same extended family that keeps opening and reopening in the same place.. Has a lot to do with skirting the TAX and Business/License issues..It is nationwide and is being tracked by various Govt agencies....

The guy in there now is really nice. It's a family operation and the food is very good.

But you're right. Look at that place in Boca Park on Rampart. It has failed about five times.
