You can own any "legal" gun you like without having a CCW.

The 1 reason why I will never get a CCW is because I don't like being treated like a criminal. Your CCW is linked to your drivers license, so when you get pulled over for speeding, you get to be cuffed on the side of the road, until the cop decides all of your weapons are accounted for.

I know not ALL police officers will do this, but most of them do...and I don't blame them wanting to be safe....but I don't want to invite anyone to treat me like I have done something wrong, when I haven't.

IF the CCW was kept completely separate from everything else, then I would get one.

But you aren't carrying your firearm for total safety then.
The second you get out of your car, your a potential victim.
That is of course you reallllly don't have a problem with open carrying everywhere you go.
I prefer the bad guy not know I have my cal Sig on my side.

Boom.

I'd rather "I" be the only who knows what I'm carrying...or not.

Huh???
You just said you would never get a CCW.
THE only other way of carrying legally is Open Carry.
Open---EVERYBODY knows
CCW-only you know.

I have carried for years with out any problem from the police, I did not know that a NV ccw was noted on your DL, is it the same for a CDL? In WA where I am right now, it is a whole separate thing. In fact the oly time I ever had a LEO ask me about it he didn't look at my ccw or my gun. He just asked if I wouldn't mind locking up in my car.
That said it all depends on the image you project, and if you make it a habbit of being stopped by the police.

I said I would get my CCW when they unlink it to everything else (DL).

I don't agree that anyone with access to my drivers license can see that I might be carrying.

A friend of mine (Who does get pulled a few times a year) has been cuffed, and searched for weapons. When he asked the officer what was up, the officer told him the CCW came up when his DL was run, and the officer likes to protect himself by knowing that all weapons are accounted for. There are also accounts of this happening to other people over on the Nevada shooters forum.

The funny part is, my friend wasn't even carrying at the time. He (Friend) said it doesn't happen often, but it has happened.

I would just rather not have it happen to me at all.

Like I said, I don't blame the cops for wanting to protect themselves. I'm not saying this as a protest or anything. I just choose not to get a CCW because of it.

And that's your right.
I understand what your saying BUT I don't know your reasoning.
If your not breaking the law, why would you care if the police link your plates with a CCW?

Ahhhhh bullpucky.

I've been pulled over three times since I got my CCW. Only one officer even brought it up, and all he did was ask me if I was carrying. I wasn't, and said as much, and he said 'ok' and went back to his car to work up my ticket (expired tags). The other two times, they didn't ask and I didn't mention it. Since I keep it behind my driver license in my wallet, I'm certain they all saw the CCW card.

I don't know where you got the idea that you'll get handcuffed during a traffic stop for having a CCW, but if that happens, you can bet that you gave the officer some other reason for doing so.

Everybody's different and will react to being pulled over in different ways, but the one thing that a CCW universally says is that you passed the background check and that the state didn't have a reason to deny you the permit. From a cop's perspective, that's comforting. You're not as much of a mystery to them, and they know that you don't have a history of killing cops...

That right there should tell you something. If he's getting pulled over that often, he's breaking a lot of laws. I'd be curious to know how this friend looks, acts and dresses. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...
