Smart meters are the new meters that everyone in the valley either has now or will have soon. I was actually dreading them from all the doom and gloom talk about them, but it's been ok. And I like being able to check out my usage online, see what I can improve on to save more money.

i read the thread good info.... I think i have the "old" meter.... so with the new smart meter did you have to add anything special to check your usage online? My bill right now is not too bad... last august it was as high as 180 for a 2100 sq foot house (no pool). not too shabby. I do want to upgrade to the digital thermostates some people mentioned in here... those are awesome.... and it has a phone app. i am so about that... did anyone who installed that have a droid? how is the app? hard to set up?

The thermostats are easy to install as long as you have a 24v power wire pre-wired (most newer homes do).

Once it is installed, just follow the thermostat instructions to get it logged into your wifi. Once that is done you just download the app from Android Market, log into it and adjust your thermostat from anywhere your phone has coverage.

I have FIRST hand knowledge that any and ALL meters are the property of the providing company.

This aint a buffet champ you dont get to chose....you take their meter with their power or you sit out back with a pedal generator.....or better yet.....
