Does a smart meter make a certain noise or look a certain way from NVE? If I have one, how fast can I get a dumb meter put in? I hear these are a huge health hazard.

How?

How are they a health hazard?

Compared to the electromagnetic radiation you get every day from the sun and the cosmos in general, what do you really think an electric meter with a wifi connection is going to do to you? If you are afraid of electric meters, you may as well move to a cabin in the mountains that doesn't have wifi. But even then, you are bombarded with cosmic rays every day, 24 hours a day. So skip the cabin the mountains and move into a cave -- as deep as you can stand.

Yeah, the article reads more like a op ed piece. I don't have an opinion one way or another on Smart Meters, but this seems rather bias. No sources are named for the most hyperbolic accusations.

My Smart Meter is on the wall of my bedroom. I see no correlation of any differences.

If it is on infowars.com you can have 99% confidence that it is false.

The woman in that "article" is ridiculous. Legitimate electricians have to call the power company to unlock the tamper locks before working on a meter. This lady got some quasi-electrician to remove her meter without calling, then installed some random meter in its place. Who ensured her new meter isn't tampered to run slow? Nobody. Who is going to come by to read her meter? Nobody.

From another article about this nut job, she was given the option to have the smart meter reinstalled and she declined. She is the sole reason her house is now off the grid. Not newsworthy, which is why real newspapers won't follow her story.

Given the vast amount of wireless devices in use today, whatever EM emissions a smart meter might make are a drop in the bucket. I assume it uses the cell system to, literally, phone home the meter readings, and get whatever info it needs from the mothership. So if you use a cell phone (holding it next to your head) you're getting vastly more EM radiation from that, since EM radiation drops inverse to the square of distance. Assuming your meter is ten or more feet away from where you usually are in your house, means your getting nearly nothing compared to any wireless devices you may use in close proximity.
