I thought you would get this! You didn't.

Since I'm in the Christmas spirit I'll spin around and give you the view in the opposite direction.

And so you don't have to flip back, here is the original again...

The former Kendall appears to close. Looks like it could be the former 3rd Street South.

That would be Salisbury Road in the distance. In that photo there is a power substation in the right foreground.

This little exercise clears up a mystery for me. When I first "discovered" Wachter School I was heading north and turned east off M-291 in front of the power sub station and then turned north onto Peck Road and headed for the school. That had to have been Kendall. I doubt at the time whether there were even street signs in that area so I was not familiar with the street names.

On one of my last trips to Independence, I was looking for that east turn to the south of the power substation and it was not there. Thoroughly confused me as I thought I knew how to get where I was going. However, I just continued on up to Salisbury and turned east to hit Peck Road.

It seems that when they widened M-291 to four lanes, they blocked off Kendall.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!! The photos were taken at Peck Road, which no longer connects to M-291. The brick building is the old Number 6 Fire Station.

Well, the Chiefs sure were not a winner. I have to listen to the Chiefs on KC's Fox 101 on the internet as their game today was at the same time the Broncos played. I was not a happy camper.
