Kansas City Times, May 4, 1970

Maybe I am getting senile. It looks like the street on the left is the 200 block of West Lexington. I can see some of the Urban Renewal canopies and this would seem to be the 200 block of West Maple. I cannot seem to identify all those buildings in the upper and upper right background.

I don't think the UR canopies were there yet in 1970, this fellow seems to be advocating for the coming "improvement". Between Rex and the window divider I see the Methodist church. Just left of the man's nose is the Siegfried Fireproof Building on Maple. To the right of his head would be the Southwestern Bell Exchange Building.

I remember those very lean years. The only time you could find more than 10 people up there was for SCG or a politician visiting.

Should that date above actually be March 18, 1974? Is that pic from 1874? Something's fishy about it buy I can't put my finger on it.
