Ugh, I give up.
If you weren't concerned about any of this (and all the implications) - why did you insist on moving into SJC - and not Jacksonville? Note that snuffybear isn't talking about her incident (at least not yet). I moved to SJC because of the golf. Why did you move here and not Duval County? Robyn

It was just an observation as we drove thru on Memorial Day. Jax Beach was super crowded and JSO was patrolling everywhere and putting drunkards under arrest. We left.

Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Jax Beach are each separate cities with their own mayors and police departments. There isn't a whole lot of crime for them to police other than this sort of stuff and home invasion/burglary issues, so this is basically what they do with their time. Wait until you see July 4.

We've lived in St Johns for 7 years. I've been to Jax Beach twice. I think the whole area feels rednecky and sketchy. We love the beach, but stick to Micklers, Anastasia, etc.

I could only imagine if you went to Jax Beach in the early 1990s when it was known to some as "Slum Beach"

I don't think it's sketchy. Tons of eateries, stores, beach access every block, hotels (e.g., chains like Hampton on beach), etc. The Jax Beach lifeguards are well trained through a well known program. Also, some of the strip malls are re-doing their fronts to look nicer. The problem is probably zoning that allowed anything to go up -- typical all over FL -- esp Jax.

Mickler's Beach is getting very crowded. People leaving trash all over on weekends, dogs pooping, etc.
I really think St. Johns County needs to think about more beach access in the Ponte Vedra Beach area. Mickler's does not have enough parking for all of St. Johns County coming over the 210 bridge!

We tried to go on Mother's Day weekend and couldn't park at Micklers, so went down to Guana and the first two parking lots were full, and we finally got parking at the third one. Right after us, we saw many others turned away.

It is nice having beach access nearly every block from AB to south JB. It makes the beaches less crowded. Sometimes we are the only ones out at the end of our block! Very nice beaches here. Soft and hard pack, wide when the tide is out with tidal pools for young ones. Not a lot of shells, etc, when you walk in the water. Garbage cans dumped every morning. No vehicles. Awesome!
