As per another poster here:

Maybe if said 'unskilled jobs' that Mach50 was referring to were both actually advertised and paid proper wages for----------they would actually be filled by Americans/green card holders.

Too; we have quite a few people on disability/welfare------I bet at least the able bodied ones could be 'enticed' to work even 4-6 hours a day in exchange for their full benefits

You folks are the ones who say that right? Quite trying to make this an argument, just show me proof of Americans wanting these jobs. Physical evidence.

Why not find the employers and ask for those jobs? There is a list of employers that hire illegals, go get those jobs.

I was just researching this topic the other day! Only 3% of illegals are in the agricultural industry. A majority are in the service industry, like construction or landscaping.

I have also heard about many illegals fraudulently obtaining documents (social security number, etc) to be able to work in factories.

There is currently legislation about to be voted on. It would require companies to verify citizenship.

Evilnewbie, couldn't it also be said that because illegals are working for lower wages they are in more demand!

Supply and demand.

How about said employers posting job openings via standard means be them newspapers, online, employment office, etc?

The 'word of mouth' underground economy (which tends to cut out regular people) so popular with illegal immigrants needs to be reigned in.

So basically Americans are just going to sit back on unemployment until employers start wanting them back?

Go take these jobs? What do you propose I do? Go down to the nearest packing house and demand they fire all illegal aliens, hire legal American workers and give them fair market based pay and benefits, and hey! why don't they invite the unions back in while they are at it!

This is why government (unfortunatly) has to be involved. Without the proper enticement (and my desire, sadly, is not an enticement to big business) corporations are not going to make the change voluntarily. They want the money they save by hiring illegals. They do not want to pay benefits, they do not want unions. Period.

Sometimes I don't know who is screwing the illegal aliens more, the businesses that exploit them for substandard pay or the liberals that want to condemn them to such a life in an effort to ease their own 'white and/or priveledged guilt'.
