For months, America has been told by left-wing non-profits like the Alien Criminals Liberation Union (ACLU), La Raza and LULAC, that Alabama’s new immigration law H.B. 56, “targets Hispanics” and is “anti-Latino“. Judge Sharon Lovelace Blackburn wisely ignored that rhetoric when she let stand (pending trial) the law’s most critical section – having police check immigration status of individuals apprehended in a lawful stop or arrest.

Well, the very first such arrest has now occurred since the Judge’s ruling. And – surprise, he is not from Mexico, or any other Latino American nation. He is Mohamed Ali Muflahi, 24, from…Yemen!

That’s right, the same lovely nation where we just killed a terror-linked cleric with a drone missile, and the home of the “most dangerous branch” of Al-Qaeda, according to U.S. officials.
First Illegal Alien Arrested Under Alabama Immigration Law is From YEMEN | Stand With Arizona (http://standwitharizona.com/blog/2011/10/03/first-illegal-alien-arrested-under-alabama-immigration-law-is-from-yemen/ - broken link)

I wonder why they didn’t release him when they discovered he isn’t from Mexico. Could it be the law isn’t anti-Hispanic/Mexican, rather anti-illegal from ANY country? Hmmm. .

We just need to stick to the law and deport illagal Aliens for everywhere. We have enough locals taking advantage of our system!

Uhhm, there has been an update...

He might be from Yemen, but he is not an illegal alien:

Man detained in Gadsden under new Alabama immigration law turns out to be legal

GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) — A man suspected of violating Alabama’s new immigration law turned out to be in the country legally...

...Etowah County officials said Monday an attorney for 24-year-old Mohamed Ali Muflahi later produced papers showing he had legal status...

I guess that all those Nativist links crowing about this will now promptly correct their articles?...

"Nativist links"? What does nativism have to do with this story or illegal aliens for that matter? Are you now going to start using the other smear words for those opposed to illegal immigration such as xenophobe, racist, etc? Sounds like you have been fully indoctrinated into the pro-illegal rhetoric.

The concept of "Nativism" has more links to illegal immigration than this story does now...

But it would be probably be a good thing to leave up as also a first "false positive" of the new Alabama law...

Thanks for the update, and for posting an article that illustrates how easily legal status can be proven. So, the ONLY people who should fear this law are those the law is intended to snare. Clearly, the system works.

No, as I previously mentioned, it proves those with a legal presence have absolutely nothing to fear. This is great news. But, for some reason, you don't seem to be happy the law is being properly enforced.

Maybe you should look up the word nativist in the dictionary. It does not fit opposition to illegal immigration.

Time will tell how many illegals will be caught with the enforcement of our immigration laws in Alabama. At least many will move on to sanctuary states and bankrupt them instead. It is only a matter of time before they have no where to run and hide much to your apparent dismay.

Obviously this Yemen guy didn't have the proper papers on him and therefore detained. It was his own fault but it was cleared up.

So you don't fear anything when the Sheriff of that county in Alabama describes the new law as

"[A]nyone who does not have documentation, such as a driver’s license, to verify citizenship status can be arrested, regardless of how he or she looks or talks."

I think there is going to be quite a few more false positives if we are seeing the first this early (while they call him "OTM", he still looks like a Mexican)...
