I admire their honesty, when they picked the Telluride as # 1 they admitted, "because we like the styling better."
Being in the market right now, it’s hard to discount the Kia’s styling advantage. Which is a big turn around considering historically, Kia would have been the value play at the expense of styling.

Very good point.

Generally people follow a specific forum because they enjoy sharing with others.

Most people would skip something they don’t like or have no interest in, unless they have an alternative motive.

If you don’t like it don’t buy it. I have no idea what it is you get out of these debates.

You would think so as I agree, as for others...

On a personal note, I have to say it’s unhealthy to have such passion in such matters. Let it go and let the free market economy do it’s thing. You never get points for winning and argument on the internet. This essentially an argument in whose vacuum cleaner is the best. Who cares? Kias being popular surely isn’t the worst thing in our lives is it? Surely there is something that deserves more attention.

We sold an 8-year old Kia Soul 30 minutes after I posted on CraigList. During this time I had to replace the battery after the 5th year and a corner-light bulb in the 6th year, plus obviously the normal maintenance.

We always had Hondas and Toyotas and the service we received from Kia and Hyundai was much better than the Japanese dealerships, but your mileage might vary, that depends on their location.

I've been clear from the get go. what is game changing about a slow inefficient vehicle that is not much cheaper than competitors. forgive me for calling out absurd claims. oh, and I think you meant ulterior, and I think you're the one with it. I think your daddy designed one of these soccer mom whips.

Yet the Telluride and Palisade are still getting out-sold by a wide margin in the marketplace? HHhhmmmm….maybe consumers are more tuned-in to the massive shortcomings of those products that auto journalists don't pay attention to? (Again, the horrendous powertrain in these products which is woefully inadequate. They obviously took major shortcuts here to save some money.)

Don't give me the line about "well there is no supply" either. There are thousands of these things sitting on dealer lots right now. Anyone can goto Autotrader.com or sites like that and find one.

The biggest thing they did to grab attention is to put an artificially low MSRP on them. Good for them....I think that was a smart move to attract some attention and the media lazily likes to run with MSRP numbers and not focus on actual transaction prices. Problem is, they have no room to move off that number so when a customer actually compares these vehicle's actual transaction prices to their competitors, they are losing that sale more often than not.

Guess that’s why when I traded in my 2014 Soul 6 months ago with 72k, I got 11,500 for it. I only paid 18,900 for it when it was a year old. I bought a new Soul GT Line Turbo for 24,900. (Sticker was 30,080).

Nice? Yeah, arguably the best looking SUV out there, and from what I have read, also nicely finished and a fine all-arounder.

But a game changer? Nah. There’s nothing so superlative about these that it should rock anybody’s game to the core. It’s a solid, well-done play to the heart of mainstream consumers.

according to kelly blue book, the trade in value of that vehicle with that mileage is $5000. $5000. so you're either not being honest, or since you bought another kia, they overpaid for your trade. so in 5 years, that car lost about 75% of it's value.
