Genesis all day long, GM screwed too many people by building crap for cars for too long to start to trust now. Push rod technology wont last as long as the engines coming out of Asia either so Hyundai will out last GM engine wise
I'd pick the Genesis, but Hyundai built throw away cars not very long ago, the brand has only been relevant for about 3/4 years car wise when the newer Sonata came out.

I have to disagree with this. the LS-series V8s have a very long history of reliability, performance, and efficiency (when coupled with the Corvette's long overdrive gear).
I will agree that their passenger cars, until recently, have been crap though.
Kind of an odd comparison. The Azera is the Impala's direct competitor in both price and its FF drivetrain. Impala takes my pick between those two, especially with Azera's more staid styling.
If the Impala and Genesis are to be compared, $35K is going to get you a fully loaded 2LTZ Impala, while that same $35K is going to get you a base model Genesis 3.8 with no options and without many of the features on the Impala LTZ. Impala is the better value in this case.
Otherwise, the Chevy SS is the closest you get to a Genesis 5.0 sedan competitor, and if I'm shelling out $45K+ for a sport sedan, I'm not shelling it out for something with a Hyundai badge.

That's funny. Someone back in the 70-80s probably said the same thing about Datsun and Honda too. Kia/Hyundai have been relevant for a lot longer than 3-4 years. If I had a choice between the two? I'll take a Hyundai.
Impala. Every time, I see on on the interstate, I break my neck to look at it.
It is a nice looking car especially in LTZ trim.
