Great look at the topography. Every area in green could be submerged but structures are obviously higher than that so hopefully these people have a second floor at least

Wow! This thread has some incredible information. I think most of my questions have been answered without me even asking too many.

I know. We went to a Hurricane BBQ last night in Fort Lauderdale. We couldn't tell it was there but we all knew it is sitting just outside.

I was quite surprised in some of the footage I've seen that the roofs are holding up. But there's no way to tell when the footage was taken (early on in the storm, pre-eyewall, in the eye, etc.). They could all be gone by now, I suppose.

No real words to express the devastation, certainly not the giddiness that is being expressed by some by WOW such a COOL, AMAZING storm!! A bit of respect is in order, I think.

Totally agree, some nutter said he'd give his life to be in a category 5 storm earlier in this thread, some poor kid did give his life today and he had no choice

My thoughts are with all those in the Bahamas today.

A little off topic but does anybody else experience the "go to first new post" going there but popping back up several posts before stopping ?
This is the only forum that does this for me.
Although, in the general Weather forum, that option isn't even always presented at all.

Many newer homes were built much better in the islands vs the cheap built homes that were slapped up in FL in the 80's and 90's.
