I've got a new coworker in process of transferring here and he and his family are looking in kingwood. He is asking me about kingwood on the porter side and if it is a good choice. Said it is zoned to new caney schools. I don't know anything about that area to advise him. Can someone from kingwood chime in please?

Humble ISD schools in Kingwood are significantly better than New Caney schools.

Choose the Humble ISD school side...not New Caney. Are they looking in Oakhurst?

I would recommend against buying in King's Mill. 1. New Caney Schools, 2. Don't let the name fool you, King's Mill is not part of Kingwood, they do not get K stickers and can't use Kingwood amenities. 3. Home values have dropped there since the development started due to failure to live up to promised amenities, 4. It looks nice there now with the big ring of trees around it but that is Porter and eventually all those trees will be clearcut and probably replaced with auto part stores and gas stations.

I grew up in Kingwood and went to their schools all my life, and I must agree with the others. Kingwood schools used to be very, very good. They've dropped a bit since 2004 but they still are much better then New Caney ISD.
