I am looking to purchase a home on the "outskirts" of Houston. I have been looking at Kingwood and Humble (I currently live close to downtown). I have looked at a lot of posts and have found not one person recommended Kingwood. Is The Woodlands that great? I am looking for a house that will be going up in value, on the lower end of the market and with a good school district. Does anyone have advice on Kingwood?

Kingwood is great, speaking from experience as I grew up there. Loved it, still do, but I will end up in The Woodlands as to me, it has more to offer.

I love Kingwood! I spend a lot of time there shopping and hanging out (we live in Humble).

There is a lot of growth going on in the Kingwood/Humble areas right now with a lot of new, up-and-coming neighborhoods.

I like the Woodlands, but for me, it's too congested. I like visiting, but I'm always happy to come home. Is it just me who feels the overcrowding in the Woodlands?

Default Kingwood

I own in Kingwood and it is fantastic. Beautiful, well-planned, great infrastructure, lots of parks, 100 miles of trails, shopping, dining, and a much easier drive to downtown than The Woodlands. I chose Kingwood over the Woodlands and am very happy I did

Hey--that's where I grew up, Bear Branch. Right on Riverlawn Drive!

It sure is a small world. BearBranch is great. Close to TownCenter, lovely homes, and the nice Nature Preserve. Also, Bear Branch Elementary and Creekwood Middle School are excellent.

Thank you for your ideas and input. We saw some nice houses today in Kingwood. I noticed on some real estate websites that Kingwood has been going up in value the past few years. Does anyone know if that's new developments, or does it include the houses from the 70s, etc also? Are there areas of Kingwood that may be just too old (or new), or that you wouldnt recommend?

I like the following:

BearBranch (I purchased a fully updated English Tudor from the original owner(granite, hardwoods, duel convection, new ac's, etc) with beautiful landscaping, on a very private culdesac, new insulation in attic, 3000 custom home built in 1980 for 180k.

Sand Creek

Fosters Mill

RiverChase

KingsPoint

Kings Forest

Oakhurst

What is your budget?

We'd like to stay on the lower end, close to 150k. We'd be willing to make minor adjustments to the home, as in new paint, etc.
