All of a sudden the Houston forum got a bunch of "California" threads.

Why are people in Houston obsessed with California?
For one thing, city-data already has a California forum where people can go and talk about California.

I'm happy in Houston, I love Houston, I have relatives in the San Francisco bay area and I really don't care about what/why California is the way it is.

I think the OP is tilting at windmills, but the fact is the whole world is "obsessed" with California. My uncle in Seattle was upset that his visiting relatives from Italy kept going on and on about California while they were staying at his home in Seattle. He is a proud Seattle-ite. Whatever the reasons, California just is. That's it. Let's move on.

California is the last remaining vestige of communism in the world.

There are lots of people who believe that most of California is already a communist — or at the very least a socialist state. But, as yet, it isn't "official." However, Los Angeles and San Francisco already propose and vote for virtually every leftist concept currently known to humans, as they vigorously work toward developing new ones; or adding onto existing radical Marxist notions. California government employees can even belong to the Communist Party.

Have you never seen the sublminal messages google (owned by the Republik of California) displays during searches? Flashing things like "Workers of the world, unite!" Also, I woke up in the middle of the night to find Siri on my iphone was reading me Karl Marx "Communist Manifesto" while I slept.

Ummm, the key principle of communism and socialism is public ownership of the means of production. I think you better let Chevron, Apple, Google, Hewlett-Packard, etc. that there is no private ownership and all their assets belong to California.

Come on, Ronnie:
